How to combine PDF files into one
Merge several PDFs into a single file in the right order, without uploading them. What merging keeps, what it drops and how to fix the order afterwards.
Combining PDFs is one of the most common things anyone does with them: an application with a CV, a cover letter and certificates; a month of invoices for the accountant; scanned pages that came out as separate files. It should take seconds and it doesn’t need an account or an upload.
Merging in three steps
- Drop all the files into merge PDF.
- Drag them into the order you want. The first file’s first page becomes page one.
- Download the combined PDF.
The pages are copied into the new document as they’re, not re-rendered, so text stays searchable and selectable, fonts stay embedded and images keep their quality. A landscape page stays landscape.
Getting the order right
Put files in order before merging and pages in order afterwards. If a page ended up in the wrong place, reorder PDF pages lets you drag individual pages. Mixing in photos

What a merge doesn’t keep
Bookmarks from the original files aren’t carried over and fillable forms can misbehave when combined, so fill them in first. Password-protected PDFs can’t be merged until the password is removed in the program that created them.
When the result is too big
Merging adds sizes together, so a combined file can exceed an email or upload limit. Compress PDF shrinks the photos inside it and leaves the text alone. If it still won’t fit, why a PDF won’t get smaller covers what is taking the space.

Common questions
Will merging reduce the quality of my PDFs?
No. A proper merge copies each page's existing content into the new file without redrawing it, so text stays selectable and images keep their original quality.
Can I merge PDFs with images or Word documents?
Turn images into PDF pages first with the image to PDF tool, then merge. For Word documents, save them as PDF from Word, which keeps the text as real text and then merge.
Why did my bookmarks disappear?
Bookmarks and the outline panel belong to each original document as a whole, not to its pages and most merge tools don’t carry them across. The pages and their content are all there; only the navigation panel is missing.
What happens to fillable forms?
Form fields can stop working correctly when documents with their own forms are combined, because field names clash. Fill in and save each form first, then merge the completed copies.
